Blackbeard Spiced Rum, Puerto Rico, 86 Proof, $16 750ml
This is a terrific dark rum packed full of flavor, starting with aromas of caramel and vanilla. Once it hits the mouth the flavors flow like silk, layers of brown sugar, spice, vanilla bean, a creme brulee smoothness. The slightly higher proof gives it a nice warm bite on the finish, but it also draws all of the flavors together perfectly. This rum is named after Blackbeard the pirate and last week a team retrieved the anchor from the ship Queen Anne's Revenge, which Blackbeard had captured, and is featured in the latest Disney 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie.
