Remy Martin 1738 Cognac, France 80 proof $49 750ml
The name 1738 comes from a royal decree issued in that year by King Louis XV which granted Remy Martin additional vineyard space to expand its operations. This cognac is an exceptionally soft and is a house blend style with some of the cognac being twenty years or older mixed in each year, and by having this blend you get what is called a house style that will remain constant year after year. Aromas of dried orange zest and oak fill the glass and flow into the flavors of creamy orange blossoms, spice and slight nuttiness. On the finish subtle hints of cinnamon and oak resurface with the fruit notes balancing them out perfectly. This cognac has class and style in addition to being full bodied with loads of flavors.
