2009 Murphy-Goode Pinot Grigio, California, $13

With our first real blast of hot days upon us, this is the type of white wine you want on hand to enjoy with a dinner right off the grill. This wine starts with a terrific nose full of sweet floral and stone fruit notes. Once that first drop hits the mouth the flavors explode, layers of peach, yellow apple, lemon, and a slight spice and cream note. The citrus notes provide a terrific acidity which makes this a great food wine, especially for grilled vegetables with chicken or seafood.
