This is always a great spring beer from our friends up the road at Terrapin brewery in Athens, this boasts twice the hops, malt and flavor of the original rye pale ale, and it does deliver on all of its promises. It stars with a terrific nose of caramel and orange and dried citrus peel. This leads into flavors of toasted malt, rye bread crust, pine, and a slight sweetness all balanced with just the right amount of bitterness and effervescence. The fruit note resurface on the back end of the tasting experience along with subtle notes of hops and creamy grains. A terrific tasting experience and a perfect match for steak or chicken sandwiches on the deck while the weather is still cool but not hot yet.
