2008 Napa Valley Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir, California $27

This was one of those wines that blows your socks off, from the first sip to the last drop it was delicious. Starting with aromas of baked blueberry cobbler and vanilla cream, the taste buds wake up and can't wait for the first sip. The flavors were out of this world, creamy and dark fruit, starting with a supple load of blackberries and jam like dark fruit. This than leads into a soft and velvet like tasting experience, the dark fruit marries with a creamy vanilla bean oakiness. With every sip I could not help but to think how terrific this wine was for the price, delivering taste and complexity on many different layers. The finish was rich letting the vanilla and blueberry notes linger perfectly. A terrific match for pork tenderloin or duck dishes. Lots of wow factor that makes it taste like a much more expensive Pinot Noir.
