Samuel Smith's India Ale, England, 5% Alcohol $6 pint

This ale has some classic aromas, layers of hops, bread crust and malt with a definite earthiness and almost a peat note. The flavors were terrific with just the right amount of bitterness to balance the malt and and fruitiness in the mouth. Some notes of grain and hops, but once again the medium bitterness balances the flavors out perfectly. I found this beer to develop and the flavors to gain depth as it warmed, exhibiting classic India Pale Ale characteristics. Terrific with fried fish, brisket, or sandwiches, or better yet to enjoy while the weather is starting to warm.
