2007 Liberty School Cuvee, California $12
This winery has a tradition of producing some exceptional varietal wines, and this is their first blend consisting of Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache, Mouvedre and Viognier. The nose on this wine had loads of fresh red fruit accented nicely with notes of white pepper and spice. The flavors flowed perfectly in each sip starting with notes of strawberries and than developing to black cherries and finishing with a plum like flavor. This was balanced with notes of oak and a medium dryness, which kept the fruit in check. A nice medium bodied wine that would work perfectly with pork loin or beef, having the fruit and tannins to handle these and almost any full bodied meal.
