2006 Kendall-Jackson Meritage, California $17
Meritage means a blend of classic Bordeaux varietals made in the United States, and this wine is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The aromas of blackberries and cherries and cocoa powder. All of these are present in the mouth with added layers of vanilla cream and bacon, with a finish of oakiness and jam. You can feel the Merlot softening out the Cabernet in every sip. Terrific with full bodied meals and can last for up to 5 years and continue to get better.
