Two treasures from Black Opal Winery in Australia for under $7 a piece.

This winery is sometimes overlooked in my shopping and when I retry the wines I always kick myself for missing these under $10 wines, which I have seem as low and $6 and change.  The 2008 Chardonnay was spectacular for the money, layers of lemon zest, cantaloupe and pineapple flowed into the finish with banana notes to make for an extremely easy drinking sift white. The 2008 Cabernet Merlot blend has loads of dark fruit and spice in each sip. Subtle notes of red berries and black currants were balanced with a light dusting of pepper and leather notes. For the price range this is an extremely well made wine for a steal. Grab a bottle of both they will not break the bank.
