2006 Frescolbadi Remole, Italy $15
This wine is a great blend of mostly Sangiovesse and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Tuscany region of Italy. The nose and taste were a nice combination of old world elegance and new world finesse. Aromas of briar patch strawberries and red raspberries fill the glass and transpose into the mouth beautifully. The flavors were soft and lush, with layers of bright red fruit giving way to subtle hints pepper and a popori of herbs. The finish lets the red fruit notes resurface and the acidity in the wine keeps the palete clean. Menu options are boundless for this wine, everything from classic pasta dishes to sautéed veal.
