2008 Chateau St Jean Gewurztraminer, California $15

Gewurztraminer is one of my favorite wines for the fall with all of its spice flavors, but can make a terrific wine for the spring and summer with a light cream sauce and fresh garden vegetables. Using a light cream sauce showcases the spice notes and the fruit compliments the vegetable flavors and allows the wine to compliment each bite. The wine has a terrific aromas of dried apples and toasted almonds, which lead into a medium bodied treasure. Flavors of yellow apples, ripe peaches fill the mouth and develop with layers of allspice. The finish lets the spice and nut notes diminish and the fruit notes take over. This is a great semi-sweet treasure for any season.
